School Readiness Classes

The Emerge Center’s School Readiness programs are specially designed therapeutic classroom settings for children ages 3-7 with developmental delays, such as Autism, Apraxia, or other speech-language or learning deficits. Our students benefit from a full-time therapeutic program with the overarching goal of preparing each child to enter school ready to reach his or her greatest potential. The Emerge School Readiness Program consists of the following programs:

  • The Bloom Program
  • Transitional Kindergarten (TK)
  • Facilitated Kindergarten (FK)

These programs feature very small classes (8-12 students per class) with support from highly qualified professionals including certified special educators, licensed speech therapist, occupational therapists, and behavior analysts. A low therapist to child ratio allows the experience to be individualized for each child. Please visit our website at for more information about each program.

The Bloom Program

The Bloom Program is a full-time, therapeutic program for children ages 3-5 with Autism Spectrum Disorder that incorporates group and individual speech therapy, occupational therapy, and applied behavior analysis throughout the day. Bloom is a year-round program with behaviorally focused therapies designed to help children increase social skills and effective communication.  Children in Bloom work on skills both in a large group of 6-12 students and individually to maximize learning and growth during the program.  Bloom is a tuition-based program with therapeutic services billed to insurance and/or Medicaid.  The application period occurs in the spring of each year.  Children must be NO older than 4 on or before September 30, 2017. A diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder is required for admittance into Bloom.

The Emerge Center offers two kindergarten classes: the Transitional Kindergarten class and the Facilitated Kindergarten class. Classes provide special education instruction by certified and experienced special educators and highly trained teacher’s aides. Each class also has a support team composed of a speech therapist, occupational therapist, and behavior analyst to provide direct treatment to students who qualify for those related services and to provide teacher consultation. Children must be NO older than 6 on or before September 30, 2017.

The Facilitated Kindergarten brings together therapy and education in a full day program. Students in the Facilitated Kindergarten are 4-7 years old and have a diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder. The main goal of the Facilitated Kindergarten is for students to reach their highest potential for learning, communication, and socialization. Students in this program benefit from a very small class size with opportunity for individualized and small group instruction. Students in this program must qualify for speech therapy, occupational therapy, and applied behavior analysis services which will be billed to the appropriate insurance carrier.

The Transitional Kindergarten provides a full day educational classroom setting for children with developmental, social, and communication delays including but not limited to autism spectrum disorders, apraxia, and ADHD. Students in the Transitional Kindergarten are 4-5 years old and would benefit from a preparatory kindergarten year before entering a regular education kindergarten class the following year. Students in the Transitional Kindergarten must qualify for speech therapy and occupational therapy which are provided both in the classroom and as pull out services and are billed to the appropriate insurance carrier. Applied Behavior Analysis is available as an additional therapy after school for qualifying students.

Steps After Applying

Once a complete packet is submitted, you will be contacted if additional information is necessary. Placement in the Facilitated Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten is based on the clinical opinions of the education team.  Classroom placement is a thoughtful decision made once we feel like we have the best picture possible of your child’s strengths and challenges.

On an individual basis, potential students may be invited to spend part of a school day at The Emerge Center to give you, our placement team, and your child, an opportunity to become more familiar with each other.  Please help to improve the acceptance process for your child by submitting as much information as possible.

School readiness programs range from $9,000 to $13,000. Tuition does not cover co-pays, deductibles, etc. Their is a registration fee of $500, and a $500 supply fee. If you need financial assistance, please click here for more information on how to apply.
